That’s How Rough Riders Roll: Underwear Ride Up & How To Prevent It
Underwear is like duct tape. When you put it on, you expect it to stay in place. But like an indoor cat that sees an open window, sometimes underwear makes a run for it. Of course, these are just comparisons. You should never use duct tape or cats as underwear. Trust me.
But what causes underwear to ride up? Is there any way to prevent it? And did I seriously wear duct tape underwear? Let’s take a closer look.
Ride Along: What is underwear ride up?
Ride up is when your boxer briefs turn into just plain briefs. The fabric slowly rises up your legs getting closer and closer to your crotch. It can happen slowly throughout the day or all at once when you least expect it. But it’s way less sexy than that description makes it sound. Hey, I should write romance novels!
Of course, there’s nothing wrong with wearing briefs. They’re certainly a fine cut of underwear. But when you put on boxer briefs in the morning, you kind of expect to be taking off boxer briefs at night.
Ride Effects: Why does my underwear ride up?
There are 3 common causes of underwear roll up. And unfortunately, they’re all your own fault.
- Fit: If your underwear is too big, the legs will be loose against your skin. That makes it easier for them to ride up instead of remaining in place. On the other hand, if your underwear is too small, the legs will naturally want to shrink upwards. Classic Goldilocks situation.
- Fabric: Even if your underwear fits correctly, it can still ride up if the fabric doesn’t have enough elastic in it. Too little elastic and the legs won’t maintain their snug fit. Too much elastic and you’ll be an easy target for atomic wedgies.
- Fussin’: If you remain perfectly still, your underwear won’t ride up. Go ahead, try it now! But the more active you are, the more likely it is that your underwear will ride up. All that fussin’ around we do, like walking or standing up, gives underwear a chance to bunch up.
Hey, those all started with F! I should’ve called them The Three Fs. Oh well, too late now.
Ride Or Die: How can I prevent underwear ride up?
The only way to guarantee you’ve got no ride up underwear is by wearing briefs. After all, the legs can’t ride up if the legs don’t exist.
But if boxer briefs are your jam and you want men’s underwear that doesn’t ride up, the solution is easy: Wear the right size boxer briefs made from a high quality fabric. Need me to recommend where to get some? My pleasure.
These men’s underwear use a MicroModal fabric that’s stretchy, soft, moisture-wicking, and breathable. And you can use their sizing chart to make sure you’re getting the proper fit. Need help picking the cut that’s right for you? I can help with that here.
