Sweating sucks. How do I keep my underwear dry?
I’m sorry, body, I understand that you make me sweat to help cool me down when I’m feeling like a toaster strudel but like…couldn’t we do something else?! I’ll take goosebumps any day…but noOoOooO. Insert eye roll. Sweating is incredibly inconvenient, especially when the sweat is down south in your nether region. If you thought pit sweat sucked? Welcome the even worse: crotch sweat. It makes you feel sticky, icky and sometimes even stinky. It ain’t ideal, but it’s real, so we have to find ways to deal with it. So why am I sweating in my underwear? Let’s find out and fix it.
Wear the right underwear
Let’s start with one of the easiest things you can do to help reduce panty sweat. Choosing the proper underwear. Here are some GOOD things to look for in your underwear as well as some no-no’s to stay away from.
GOOD:
- Breathable fabrics
- Moisture wicking fabrics
- Loose-fitting fabrics
- Cotton
- Going commando(;
BAD:
- Synthetic materials like nylon and polyester
- Tight-fitting fabrics
So what underwear material is best for sweating?
One of the most breathable and moisture-wicking fabrics on the market is MicroModal. MicroModal is:
- 3x softer than cotton
- Naturally moisture-wicking which means it pulls sweat off your body and to the top of the fabric so it can evaporate faster
- Naturally breathable so your crotch doesn’t feel hot and stuffy
Wearing sweat-wicking underwear made from MicroModal is a great way to help reduce moisture in your downtown district. You can get underwear made from MicroModal in any style that suits your booty from lace trim thongs, to sassy cheekies, to modest bikinis and full coverage boyshorts. What if I’ve tried breathable underwear but I STILL sweat my ass off?
Like I said before, our bodies can be cruel mistresses, but don’t fret, for I’ve got more ideas for us to reduce sweating in the crotchal region!
- Bring the bush back. Keeping a bit of pubic hair can actually help reduce your crotch sweat. The hairs help reduce friction between you and your garment which, in turn, helps to wick away sweat easier. But remember: balance is key. Too much hair could result in added harmful bacteria which can create unwanted odor, so go for a trim rather than a full bush or full brazilian.
- Try an intimate area antiperspirant. YES, there are deodorants made specifically for your downtown! Give one a try but please DO NOT use your standard armpit deodorant for your vagina. You are sensitive down there!
- Only use products that are specifically made to be safe for your vagina, otherwise you may be causing more harm than good.
- Opt for a change of underwear. If you are going to the gym and have errands to run after, or if you are going to a patio lunch in the heat of the Summertime, throw an extra pair of underwear in your bag. After a sweat sesh, swap out your damp pair with a fresh one. This will help you feel more comfortable for the rest of the day! Just make sure to have a swimsuit bag, grocery bag or something to tuck away your used undies so they don’t make an accidental appearance when you rummage for your wallet.
- Shower often. You’ll never be upset about feeling cleaner! Shower in the morning when you wake up and again after a workout or before bed. More clean = less sweat.
- Avoid panty liners whenever possible. Panty liners are great to save your undies when spotting, but try to avoid wearing them when you’re not on your period. The absorbent material of pads/panty liners holds in moisture which will in turn make you feel damper and hold in that sweat.
