I'm not really sure onesies are not universally worn by all ages. You're born and clad in a onesie from infancy through toddler-hood but onesie wearing abruptly drops off after that. Too long for a female
I’m a 5’8” female. I ordered M instead of a S because I’m pregnant and want room for the belly. The only problem with the onesie was it was way too long. The crotch is halfway down my thighs and the legs are 6-8” too long.

Just weird
We bought a matching set, for a pajama party... They are SO CUTE, but once you put them on,, they fit really weird. The length was good, but the crotch area is very short, so it makes it very hard to walk up steps, or sit wide legged (for guys!). The hoodie is great, too - but the zipper goes all the way over your face - to the top of your head. Holiday bondage gear!?! Great idea, poor execution!
